Turkmenistan Promotes Digital Cooperation In Partnership With UNCTAD


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 3. The StateCustoms Service of Turkmenistan and the UN Conference on Trade andDevelopment (UNCTAD) discussed the development of cooperation inthe field of digitalization, Trend reports.

According to the official source, these issues were discussedduring a meeting in Ashgabat between a representative of the StateCustoms Service of Turkmenistan and the Regional Coordinator ofUNCTAD, Dmitry Godunov.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of issuesrelated to the implementation of the 'Concept for the Developmentof the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2019–2025'.

It was noted that within the framework of the first and secondstages of the implementation of the concept, the State CustomsService of Turkmenistan has successfully implemented the UNCTADAutomated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) electronic declarationand is effectively working on the introduction of a single windowfor export-import operations.

At the same time, the parties noted that, in accordance with thethird stage of the development of the digital economy ofTurkmenistan, it is proposed to introduce the third phase ofdigitalization of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.

In this regard, they discussed the proposals developed by UNCTADfor the implementation of the third stage of the digitalization ofcustoms authorities in Turkmenistan.

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan's cooperation with UNCTAD is aimed atdeveloping the country's economic opportunities through supportinginvestment policy, improving trade, and ensuring sustainabledevelopment.

The partnership is based on the exchange of expertise andexperience in the fields of trade, investment, technicalassistance, and strategy development, contributing to thestrengthening of infrastructure and increasing the competitivenessof the national economy, as well as contributing to the achievementof the Sustainable Development Goals until 2030.
