Inian teen Chess player makes history at Chess World Cup

(MENAFN) Only a day following India becoming the first nation to settle on the south pole of the Moon, a teenager chess sensation could make another triumph in the county`s history.

Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, 18, is going to encounter international number one Magnus Carlsen, 32, in a deciding game at the FIDE Chess World Cup final in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Thursday.

Social media was abuzz with posts of good wishes for Praggnanandhaa, lovingly known as Praggu – merely the second Indian contender following chess Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand to get to the World Chess Final.

Grandmaster is an all-time name given to the world's toughest contenders by the International Chess Federation, which is also recognized by its French abbreviation FIDE.

“Patience is the key! An 18-year-old young lad is set to create history today. India is rooting for you, champ! Let’s go,” stated social media operator Meeti Shah on X, the podium previously recognized as Twitter.
