Project To Boost Youth Political Participationkicks Off

Amman, Aug. 15 (Petra) -- The Politics and Society Institute, a non-profit institute of studies and research, in partnership with the King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD), announced Tuesday the launch of the "Poli-Meter" project, which aims to prepare university students to enhance their Political and partisan participation.
According to a statement, Mazen Tablat, Director of the fund, said that since the fund's establishment by his majesty King Abdullah II, it has sought to enhance the comprehensive development process, stressing that in light of the political reforms and modernization process adopted by the Kingdom, especially in strengthening the role of youth and women in public life, the fund supports the implementation of a number of projects in the field of political empowerment, in partnership with a number of civil society institutions.
For her part, Executive Director of the institute Rasha Fitian stated that the project came to bridge the gap in the level of political awareness and the demand for political and electoral participation, especially in universities, noting that the lack of integration of youth into the public and political life will lead to their isolation from the current stage of political modernization.
Project manager Ahmed Qudah indicated that the project methodology is based on awareness-raising, education, knowledge enhancement, focused sessions to know and read the trends of the target groups, training, empowerment and skills enhancement, in addition to establishing dialogues with stakeholders such as university administrations and influential professors in Jordanian universities.
Regarding the target group in the "Poli-Meter", Qudah said that the project will build the capacities of 250 male and female students who are interested in political and public affairs using the face-to-face training method, and prepare them to be influential and leaders youth nucleus who is motivated to work in a political party and engage in partisan and political activity in 10 Jordanian universities, including The University of Jordan, Yarmouk University, German Jordanian University, University of Science and Technology, Mutah University, Hashemite University, Al al-Bayt University, Al-Balqa Applied University, Tafila Technical University and Al-Hussein Bin Talal University.
