The West Bengal government on Thursday announced that two GST tribunal benches will become functional in the state from October 1.

The primary aim for setting up these benches is for faster resolution of tax issues.

Speaking to mediapersons, Minister of State for Finance (Independent charge) Chandrima Bhattacharya said the two benches, a part of the central appellate tribunal, would address the issues related to GST of aggrieved parties.

“We had requested for setting up of two benches in the state during the 50th GST Council meeting and the Centre had agreed to it,” Bhattacharya said.

As per reports, the two tribunal benches will function in a phased manner.

The Minister of state of finance on Thursday tabled the West Bengal Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2023 in the Assembly.
