Baby monkey escapes troop in court in Pakistan

(MENAFN) A baby monkey interrupts a Pakistani law court hearing after fleeing the troop offered as proof in a case of wildlife trafficking, representatives stated.

A couple of men were arrested in front of Karachi on Thursday while attempting to traffic 14 baby monkeys in crates normally utilized to transport mangos.

When they were brought to law court on Friday, one of the monkeys fled and generated disturbance as workers attempted to lure it down from a tree.

"The monkeys were kept in the boxes in a bad condition... they could hardly breathe," stated Javed Mahar, head of Sindh Wildlife Department.

The job or obtaining a wild animal is prohibited in Pakistan, however, rules are regularly overlooked and there is a robust market in unusual pets.

Monkeys are commonly kept by road artists to gain clients, and in some incidents have been coached by offenders to enter homes to rob.
