Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan Hold Meeting Of Joint Intergovernmental Commission On Cooperation


(MENAFN- AzerNews) The 12th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan was held in Shusha. Minister of Economy, and co-chair of the joint commission Mikayil Jabbarov stressed that this event is the first meeting of the intergovernmental commission organized in Shusha and expressed satisfaction that it is being held jointly with friends from Uzbekistan, Azernews reports.

The Minister of Economy noted that our peoples and countries have friendly relations and are united by a common history, roots, traditions, and culture. The head of the Ministry of Economy stressed that the events organized to expand ties are an important factor in the development of relations. It was noted that mutual relations with Uzbekistan are developing incrementally.
Informing about the Azerbaijani-Uzbek economic relations, the Minister of Economy noted the expansion of trade, economic and investment partnerships. The creation of the Azerbaijan-Uzbek Investment Fund will give an additional impetus to the development of investment cooperation.

Topical issues on the bilateral agenda include the development of cooperation between regions, as well as in the fields of energy, industry, especially automotive, agriculture, transport and transit, healthcare, tourism, culture, and education.
During the meeting, information was provided on a favorable business environment, mechanisms to increase economic activity, and reintegration measures implemented in the territories liberated from occupation. It was emphasized that Uzbekistan is building a school for 960 pupils in the city of Fuzuli, and gratitude was expressed to the fraternal country for participating in the restoration of Karabakh.

The Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov expressed satisfaction with the commission meeting in Shusha and highly appreciated the work carried out in Karabakh and East Zangazur. It was noted that Uzbekistan is always ready to contribute to the restoration and reconstruction work carried out in the territories liberated from occupation. Laziz Kudratov noted the successful partnership between our countries in various areas and shared his vision of new areas of cooperation, the development of business relations, and the implementation of joint projects.
The event discussed the diversification of trade and economic ties, and the development of partnerships in industry, energy, agriculture, investment, and other areas.

A Protocol was signed following the results of the 12th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. According to the document, it is planned to expand cooperation in the areas of trade and the economy, energy, transport, innovation and start-ups, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, tourism, food security, water management, culture, humanitarian and social areas.

Also, an Agreement was signed between the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan and the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan on the establishment of the Azerbaijan-Uzbek Investment Company, as well as documents on expanding cooperation in the energy sector.
