Opinion: The Power Of Perception

(MENAFN- Newsroom Panama)

There are times when perception –especially in politics– is as important or more than reality itself. Last week, on the eve of the Cambio Democrático (CD) primaries, there were persistent rumors that the New Business ruling would be delayed, at least until this week, in order to prevent the candidate of the main defendant in this process – if that were the case – would bear the burden of a conviction. Achieving something like this means that politics would have gotten its hands on justice, which, in turn, represents an interference in the primary elections of CD yesterday Sunday. And all this in pursuit of a political alliance in which some seek power to quench their thirst for money and the others the same, but also to put an end to their judicial processes. Regardless of who won these primaries, the certain thing is that the Government would have tried to facilitate the way to him to the candidate with whom it wants to make political deals. And although all this may be an assumption, many perceive it as reality, because each imagined fact finds its space in reality. The PRD underestimates the power of perception.- LA PRENSA, Jul. 10.
