Iran Condemns Use of Chemical Weapons as Threat to Peace

(MENAFN) At a recent United Nation Security Council session on West Asia, Iran's ambassador to the United Nation, Saeed Iravani, spoke out against the use of chemical weapons, calling it a grave breach of international law and a danger to world peace and security. As the primary victim of chemical weapons, he strongly condemned their use by anyone, anywhere, and under any circumstances. He pointed out that the use of chemical weapons is not only a serious violation of international law but also a crime against humanity. Such actions threaten international peace and security and must be prevented at all costs.

Iravani also reminded the council of the role played by certain Western countries in assisting the Saddam regime in using chemical weapons against the Iranian people during Iraq's imposed war against Iran. He expressed his disappointment that some Western countries either remained silent or were complicit in such atrocities. The harmful actions and double standards of these countries have prevented the United Nation Security Council from carrying out its charter duties effectively and holding the perpetrators accountable for their atrocious crimes.

In conclusion, Iravani emphasized that Iran will never forget the suffering and pain inflicted upon its people during the use of chemical weapons and will continue to stand against such actions in the future. The international community must come together to ensure that chemical weapons are never used again, and those who violate international law and commit crimes against humanity are held accountable for their actions.
