Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs Honours Graduates of New Qatari Imams Course


(MENAFN) The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs held a graduation ceremony to honour the graduates of the first batch of a course for new Qatari imams of national service recruits, as well as the graduates of the 18th batch of a course for Qatari imams, within the program for the year 2023. The ceremony was attended by Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs for Da’wah and Mosques Affairs Mohammed Hamad Al Kuwari, Director of the Department of Religious Call and Guidance Mal Allah Abdulrahman Al Jaber, and Vice President of the National Service Academy Brigadier General Ahmed Saud Al Kuwari.

Head of the section of Da’wah and Islamic Sciences Institute, Omar Uqla Al Ruwaili, explained that the course for new imams of national service recruits was held after a cooperation agreement was signed between the ministries of Awqaf and Defense to attract those assigned by the National Service Academy to join the position of imam. The course had 15 graduates.

During the graduation ceremony, Al Ruwaili noted that the new Qatari imams course is an extension of the series of legal courses for Qatari imams that were launched in 2005. Over the past years, the number of graduates has reached more than 250 Qatari imams, and the number of graduates of this course were 16 imams. The ceremony also honored the teachers who presented the Sharia courses.

The courses aim to develop the skills and knowledge of Qatari imams, who play a crucial role in the religious and social life of the country. The courses cover various topics, including Quranic exegesis, Hadith, Fiqh, and Islamic history, among others. The courses also focus on the principles of Islamic preaching, communication skills, and the use of modern technology in religious work.

At the end of the honouring ceremony, graduates were handed over certificates for participation in the two courses. The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs' efforts to develop the skills and knowledge of Qatari imams reflect its commitment to promoting Islamic values and principles and ensuring the provision of high-quality religious services to the community. The courses also contribute to the development of a new generation of Qatari imams who are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to serve their country and community.
