In 3 Provinces, 6000 Poor Families Receive Food Items


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): More than 5,700 poor families in Nangarhar, 200 in Kabul and 64 poor families in Maidan Wardak province were distributed food items on Sunday.

In Nangarhar, food items were given to 5757 poor families in the Khogyani district under the supervision of the provincial Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department.

Qari Najibullah, director of social and development affairs of the department, said the aid was distributed with financial support of the World Food Program (WFP) and technical cooperation of Afghanistan's Next Generation Organization.

He said that each family received 6.25 kilograms of pulses, 50 kilograms of flour, five liters of cooking oil and a packet of salt.

In Kabul, Ehsaas charity foundation distributed food items among 200 poor families.

Zabihullah Hamidi, the foundation's spokesman, told Pajhwok the poor families included widows and orphans and they had been identified by their team in different areas of Kabul city.

He said each family was given 25 kilograms of flour, 7 kilograms of beans, 7 kilograms of sugar, five liters of oil, one kilogram of tea, 7 kilograms of rice and a quantity of dates.

In Maidan Wardak province, Afghanistan's Social Support and Livelihood Program distributed food items to 64 needy families in Maidan Shahr and Jalrez district.

According to the provincial Rural Rehabilitation and Development department, each family received 100 kilograms of flour, 24.5 kilograms of rice, 10 liters of oil, 9 kilograms of beans, 5 kilograms of sugar, 6 kilograms of salt and one kilogram of tea.
