Two Soldiers Killed in Bomb Blast in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province

(MENAFN) At least two soldiers of the Pakistan army were killed in a roadside bomb blast in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to a statement from the military's media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The incident occurred when an improvised explosive device exploded while a military vehicle was passing over it in Bara, Khyber District, killing Naib Subedar Hazrat Gul and Sepoy Nazir Ullah Mehsud.

Following the incident, security forces cordoned off the area and launched an operation to eliminate any terrorists in the area. The ISPR stated that Pakistan's security forces are committed to eliminating the menace of terrorism and that such sacrifices of soldiers further strengthen their resolve.

The incident came just a day after Pakistan's National Security Committee (NSC), the country's top civilian and military body, approved an operation against militants following an increase in attacks on security forces across the country, most of which were claimed by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a consortium of several militant groups.

A statement from the Prime Minister's Office on Friday after the NSC meeting said that the committee had agreed to launch a new multi-pronged and comprehensive operation with diplomatic, security, economic, and social efforts to eliminate the menace of terrorism in all its forms. The operation will involve a coordinated effort to tackle terrorism at all levels, including through diplomatic channels, intelligence gathering, and counter-terrorism operations.

The incident highlights the ongoing threat posed by terrorism in Pakistan and the need for continued vigilance and action to combat the scourge of violence. The NSC's decision to launch a comprehensive operation reflects the government's commitment to addressing the security challenges facing the country and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens. However, the incident also underscores the sacrifices made by Pakistan's security forces in the fight against terrorism, and the need to recognize and honor their bravery and dedication to the country's security.
