Palestine's ambassador to the United Kingdom, Husam Zomlot, yesterday conveyed the State of Palestine's objections to the 2030 road map the United Kingdom signed with Israel yesterday because it ignores the rights of the Palestinian people.

During his meeting with the British Minister of State Foreign Commonwealth and Development Affairs, Tariq Ahmad, at the headquarters of the British Foreign Office in London, Zomlot affirmed Palestine's rejection of what was stated in the terms of the bilateral road map with Israel, describing it as a serious violation of international law and Britain's commitments to Palestinian rights according to international resolutions.

He said the road map constitutes a dangerous precedent because it did not mention the geographical borders of the agreement, the need to end the occupation on the 1967 borders, and the illegality of settler colonialism and that it mentioned Palestine only in the context of improving the living conditions of the Palestinians.

Zomlot expressed Palestine's rejection of the UIK's opposition to Palestinian efforts to address the International Criminal Court, the International Court of Justice, and the United Nations Human Rights Council, calling on the British government to have a clearer position on the Palestinian issue and a more proactive position in line with international law and agreements.

In a tweet following the meeting, Ahmad said he met the“Head of Palestinian Mission Husam Zomlot and reaffirmed UK commitment to a two state solution based on 1967 lines. We oppose unilateral moves that undermine progress towards this, including the expansion of Israeli settlements, which are illegal under international law.”

Zomlot responded thanking Ahmad“for the warm reception and candid conversation,” adding,“I look forward to working with you to translate UK government policy into concrete actions, including the long overdue recognition of the State of Palestine and a ban on the illegal colonial settlement products.”
