(MENAFN) The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) has released an amendment to its charter, which was approved at the first session of the 14th National Committee of the CPPCC held from March 4 to 11. The amended charter was released via Xinhua News Agency on Saturday, comprising six chapters with around 10,000 Chinese characters. Additionally, a comparison table of the original and amended versions of the charter was also released.
According to an official with the National Committee of the CPPCC, historical experience has proven that only by adapting to new circumstances, enriching its content, and setting new standards can the CPPCC charter better play its role and advance the development of the cause of the CPPCC.
Since the general framework and main content of the CPPCC charter were established in 1982, the charter has undergone five amendments in 1994, 2000, 2004, 2018, and 2023, respectively. This latest amendment reflects the CPPCC's commitment to continuously improving its charter to better serve its mission.
The CPPCC is an important organ of multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. Its purpose is to promote the patriotic united front and encourage the participation of non-Communist parties, personages without party affiliation, and representatives of all ethnic groups and sectors of society in the country's political and social affairs.
The CPPCC has played a significant role in China's development, providing consultation and suggestions on important issues and policies. Its amended charter is a reflection of the CPPCC's commitment to adapting to changing circumstances and fulfilling its role in advancing the country's development.
