Russia Admires Saudi Arabia's Role On Regional, Int'l Arenas
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MOSCOW, March 9 (KUNA) -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Thursday applauded Saudi Arabia's role in tackling regional and international issues, affirming the two countries' rapprochement.
'We welcome the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's increasing concern for settling regional problems and those included in the international action agenda,' a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry quoted Lavrov as saying during a meeting with his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan.
Affirming the noticeable rapprochement between the two countries that had been linked with conservative relations in the past, Lavrov said that Russia dedicates priority to enhancing the relations with the kingdom, seeks to implement agreements and understandings that had been reached at the highest levels.
All Russian ministries that deal with economic, commercial and business affairs, are continuously working to promote the relations with Riyadh, Lavrov affirmed, also lauding the coordination on international affairs.
Minister Farhan, last week, held talks with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, in Kyiv.
Russia and Ukraine have been at war for more than a year. Warmness in the Russia-Saudi relations has recently appeared against backdrop of concord over key affairs at the political and oil levels. (end)
