Oxford Business Group begins work on The Report: Abu Dhabi 2023
Abu Dhabi, February 2023: During a long form interview with the Oxford Business Group (OBG), HE Salem al Qubaisi, Director General, UAE space agency, highlighted the ’AE's growing contributions to pioneering developments within the international space industry
“The UAE’s contributions included devising a forward-thinking vision for space exploration and implementing several major projects of benefit to the international scientific community,” said HE Al Qubaisi.
“The UAE is keen on participating in and providing key industry events. The UAE has launched the inaugural edition of the Abu Dhabi Space Debate in December 2022, which was attended by 300 representatives from some 47 countries. This event further solidifies UAE’s position as a leader in the space industry, a hub for discussing future tasks and challenges in the space industry, and a key player in developing international space policies,” HE Al Qubaisi.

During the interview, HE Al Qubaisi gave an update on the Emirates Interplanetary Mission, building on the ground-breaking success of the Hope Probe project, which continues to provide the international scientific community with data and images of Mars’ atmosphere and topography. “The development of the spacecraft will take seven years, and we plan to launch the five-year mission in early 2028,” the Director General said.
HE Al Qubaisi also highlighted the crucial role of strategic partnerships with key international players in enabling the UAE to foster a highly skilled generation of Emirati space scientists and engineers, in line with the UAE Space Agency’s long-term strategy, through the exchange of expertise.
