Tamil Nadu MSMEs demand complete withdrawal of peak hour charges on electricity Chennai, Feb 17 (KNN) The state government of Tamil Nadu should completely do away with the peak hour charges for the MSME sector, said Chairman of the Association of Indian Entrepreneurs, K E Raghunathan.
The reduction in the peak hour charges from 25 per cent to 15 per cent are applicable from November 8, 2022, to March 31, 2023.
Hence, the bills generated till November 8 will not be considered for the reduced charges.
The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) recently cleared the provisional subsidy of Rs 57.18 crore to the state-owned discom, Tangedco.
This was due from the state government to make up for the revenue loss after the peak hours charges were reduced to 15 per cent from 25 per cent for III B category of low tension consumers and LTCT consumers, comprising mostly the MSME sector, reported TOI.
Tamil Nadu government may release the subsidy immediately and the same can be reconciled later, said the order.
