Turkish President expresses gratitude for international support in earthquake relief efforts

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his gratitude for the international support received in the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes that struck Türkiye last week. Speaking at the World government Summit in a video message on Tuesday, Erdogan emphasized the importance of international solidarity, noting that his country "will not forget the helping hand extended in difficult times."

The earthquakes, measuring magnitudes of 7.7 and 7.6, struck the southeastern provinces of Gaziantep and Kahramanmaras, respectively, on February 6th. The quakes caused unbelievable destruction across nine Turkish provinces and in neighboring northern Syria, leaving a death toll of at least 40 people and injuring over 1,600 others. Rescue efforts are still ongoing, and volunteers from around the world have been flying in to help.

In his message, Erdogan expressed his gratitude to the countries that provided assistance, including those that sent rescuers, initiated aid campaigns, and issued statements of support. He further added that the outpouring of support from the international community demonstrated the significance of cooperation and solidarity during difficult times.

The Turkish President's comments highlight the importance of international support in times of crisis, and the power of collective action in the face of adversity. As natural disasters continue to occur around the world, the need for international cooperation and solidarity becomes increasingly crucial. It is only through mutual support and collaboration that countries can effectively respond to crises and help those in need.
