US shares market starts Wednesday’s session on lower note


(MENAFN) US share market started with decreases on Wednesday’s session.

The Dow saw a fall of 68 points, or 0.2 percent, to start at 34,091 as of 9.37 AM EDT (1437GMT). The S&P 500 declined by 15 points, or 0.36 percent, to reach an amount of 4,150.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq dropped 45 points, or 0.4 percent, to start the session standing at 12,070.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, was 0.1 percent lower reaching 18.60, whereas the 10-year US Treasury yield decreased 0.2 percent to jump to 3.666 percent of decline.

The dollar index lost 0.1 percent to 103.36, whereas the euro earned 0.1 percent to USD1.0730 versus the dollar.

Precious metals were recorded with ups and downs, with gold losing 0.1 percent to stand at USD1,872 an ounce but silver gaining 0.2 percent to reach USD22.23.

Crude oil rates were almost 1 percent, with global benchmark Brent crude selling at USD84.34 and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude exchanging at USD78 per barrel.
