Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari's Hidalgo Du Croate with Jerome Moutard in the saddle saved his best for the last to seal the Ain Sinan Cup triumph yesterday.

The feature at Al Uqda Equestrian Complex witnessed Impedor De Bozouls – steered by Hugo Besnier – dominated the best part of the 2000m Purebred Arabians race but the Julian Colin Smart-trained Hidalgo Du Croate picked up pace in the final 500m to seal a one-length victory after overcoming a stiff challenge by Sayaad in final moments of the exciting run.

Al Ghazali Stud's Sayaad – led by Marco Casamento – ended runner-up while Faleh Bughanaim rode Meethag to third place. Impedor De Bozouls finished in fourth place after falling short of pace in the decisive stage.

The feature winners at Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club's (QREC) 13th Al Uqda Meeting were honoured by Al Uqda Complex Manager Abdulaziz Jassim Al Boenain.

In yesterday's penultimate race, Yousuf Bakhit Al Kuwari's High And Wide reigned supreme in the 1100m Thoroughbred Handicap by a length with Tomas Lukasek riding the four-year-old gelding, trained by Ibrahim Saeed Al Malki.

Meanwhile, Al Jeryan Stud's AJS Duhail continued his fine run to top the 1300m Handicap (0-70) for 4YO+ Local Thoroughbred by one-length-and-a-quarter under jockey Szczepan Mazur.

Also yesterday, jockey Saleh Faraj Al Otaibi and Khalifa Hassan Al Jehani's Kai Du Soleil sparkled in the 1300m Handicap (0-75) for 4YO+ Purebred Arabians, winning the title convincingly, going two-and-a-half length clear to give trainer Mohammed Ghazali a win.

The 2000m Novice for 4YO+ Thoroughbreds saw Al Rufaa Racing's Flaming Lord under Casamento clinching a length win over Zestful, which was ridden by Alberto Sanna.

In what was the second contest of the day, Abdullah bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Attiya's Igor Du Pouy emerged victorious by a short head after a thrilling battle with Fetown in the 2000m Maiden for 4-6YO Purebred Arabians. Soufiane Saadi steered the Mohammed Nasser Al Naimi-trained five-year-old gelding in the race.

The day's action kicked off with a thrilling head win for Nasser Owaida Salem Al Hajri's Rain Prancer, which was led by Bughanaim in the 1300m Handicap (0-65) for 4YO+ Thoroughbreds.
