Azerbaijan: summons Iran's ambassador to Baku


(MENAFN- Hip Hop-24) On Friday, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Iranian ambassador to Baku, Abbas Mousavi, in connection with the terrorist attack that targeted its embassy in Tehran.

The ministry said in a statement that it had informed Mousavi that all countries are responsible for protecting foreign missions on their territories under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

And stressed Azerbaijan's strong condemnation of the attack that targeted its embassy in Tehran, and that such attacks on diplomatic missions cannot be accepted.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry strongly called on the Iranian authorities to prosecute the perpetrator of the terrorist act as soon as possible.

It also demanded that a thorough investigation be launched into the attack and that other persons involved in the planning and execution of the crime be identified and punished.

And she expressed her annoyance at the systematic campaign being waged against Azerbaijan in Iran during the recent period.

In turn, Mousavi strongly condemned the attack on the Baku embassy in Tehran, and expressed his sadness about what happened, according to the statement of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

Mousavi offered condolences to the Azerbaijani side for the killing of the embassy security official as a result of the attack.

He stated that his country's authorities are investigating the incident, and that they will provide the public with comprehensive information after completing the procedures.

Earlier Friday, the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran was subjected to an armed attack, killing the embassy's security official and wounding two guards.
