Germany states Moscow’s decision to prohibit oil sales “has no practical significance”

(MENAFN) Moscow’s move to prohibit oil sales to nations that force a price cap on Russian fuel “has no practical significance” for Germany, according to an administration spokesman on Wednesday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s latest decree is not a source of worry for Berlin, Robert Saverin, spokesperson for Germany’s Economic Affairs and Climate Action Ministry, announced at a news session in Berlin.

“I don’t want to say that it is irrelevant, but it has no practical significance. We have been preparing to replace Russian oil exports since early summer,” he added.

“Overall, we have been working to ensure the security of supply. It continues to be assured, regardless of whether this decree has been issued or not.”

Putin inked a decree on Tuesday barring deliveries of oil and petroleum goods to nations applying a price cap on Russian oil.
