Morocco wins against Belgium to achieve first WC victory in 24 years

(MENAFN) Abdelhamid Sabiri as well as Zakaria Aboukhlal's were the main men for morocco yesterday, scoring two goals to achieve victory against Belgium in the World Cup Group F on Sunday.

Hakim Ziyech's free-kick goal for the Moroccan national team just before halftime was disallowed due to offside.

At the Al Thumama stadium in Doha, the first 45 minutes ended in a scoreless tie.

In the 73rd minute, Sabiri opened the scoring with a superbly directed free kick from outside the penalty area.

Zakaria Aboukhlal scored a close-range goal in stoppage time with an assist from Ziyech to hand Morocco a 2-0 victory.

Morocco upped their points after two group games to four, while Belgium had three points after two games.

After 24 years, Morocco finally won the World Cup. In France in 1998, they defeated Scotland 3-0 to earn their last World Cup victory.
