Lulu Hosts Discover America Festival

Lulu Group has launched its annual 'Discover America Festival', offering over 5,000 American products including 700 all-new products.

Ambassador of the US to Qatar H E Timmy T Davis yesterday inaugurated the festival at Lulu Hypermarket in Lulu Mall, Giardino, The Pearl-Qatar. 

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Ibrahim Jassim Al Othman, President and CEO, United Development Company; Yasser Al Jaidah, CEO, Qatar Cool; and other guests from the US Embassy, US Commercial Service, American Chamber of Commerce, USDA Office of Agricultural Affairs and American Women's Association. The festival, which runs across all Lulu Hypermarkets in Qatar and other countries in the region till December 4, is a celebration of the variety and bounty of American products available at Lulu.

The hypermarkets are offering great deals on American fresh fruits and vegetables, chilled products, cheeses, sauces, the best cuts of meat, a wide range of breakfast cereals, ice cream, coffee, cake mixes, fruit juice syrups and condiments. Over 5,000 American products are featured, including 700 all-new product lines. The popular Lulu kitchens filled the aisles with speciality Hot Foods fragrant with American flavoursome smells. This year over 36 new brands representing 700 new items have been added to the growing list of American FMCG items in the store.

Speaking to the media persons at the event, the US Ambassador said:“The trade relations between Qatar and the US are absolutely fantastic. We want that relationship to grow into build a strong foundation. We are working through Lulu Hypermarket today for not only to bring regular products but also the organic products and fresh meat in a bid to promote US products in Qatar.”

He said this was an example of providing support to build the trade foundation between the two countries.

“Discover America Festival is very important to us as it is showcasing US foods, vegetables and meat, contributing greatly in promoting US products in Qatar. The festival is also introducing American cuisines and traditional foods including chickens and barbecues,” said the Ambassador.

He said the festival is displaying a wide range of products from all over the US from fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and process foods.

“Under the festival, Lulu Hypermarkets are offering organic fruits and vegetables and vegan products, giving opportunities to consumers to try massive ranges of healthy foods,” said the Ambassador.

Director of Lulu Group International Dr. Mohamed Althaf said:“Lulu Group is organising 'Discover America Festival' every year as part of its efforts to promote agricultural traditions and food habits of the US in Qatar.” He said that the festival which is also being held at the newly opened Lulu Hypermarket at Giardino, The Pearl Island, will attract a large number of fans of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, thereby promoting the US products.

''The festival is getting more popular year-by-year in Qatar, attracting a huge number of customers. To enhance import of food products from the US, Lulu Group is expanding its Export distribution centre named Y International USA Inc. at New Jersey, the US. Now we are looking for a bigger facility to meet the growing business. Soon we will be able to shift to a new fully automated facility,” said Dr. Althaf. The festival, launched in partnership with the US Embassy in Doha, is a great way to explore the popularity of products that represent the new tastes that America has introduced to the world, adding delight to the shoppers on the occasion of the World Cup.
