Earthquake Kills 6 People In Nepal


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NEW DELHI, Nov 9 (KUNA) -- At least six people were killed and at least five others were injured following a powerful earthquake that hit Nepal and lower Himalayan region early on Wednesday.
The Press Trust of India siad quoting National Seismological Centre of Nepal that an earthquake of 6.6 magnitude occurred at 2.12 AM with its epicentre at Khaptad National Park in Doti district.
Nepal's Home Ministry spokesperson Phanindra Pokharel said six persons have been killed in the earthquake and five persons who sustained serious injuries have been rushed to the district hospital in Doti.
Nepal authorities pressed the army and police into search and rescue operations amid reports of massive destructions.
Tremors of the powerful earthquake were felt in different regions across north India including New Delhi and the Capital Region. (end)
