(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MOSCOW, Oct 24 (KUNA) -- The chief of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) said on Monday that the bloc is taking steps aiming to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict, highlighting the determination of member states to push peace talks between Moscow and Kyiv.
Acknowledging the efforts of the United Arab Emirates and Turkey in that regard, Hussain Taha, after talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, underlined the ripple effects the Russia-Ukraine war has sparked across the world.
On his talks with the Russian foreign minister, the OIC secretary general said it focused on the food crisis the war has caused, particularly, in some of the world's most underdeveloped nations across Africa.
The Russian foreign minister hailed the talks as a platform to push further the Kremlin's relations with the Islamic region, calling for similar encounters to achieve that goal. (end)
