(MENAFN- Gulf Times) His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani inaugurated on Thursday the Lekhwiya Camp Building.
At the beginning of the visit, the Amir unveiled the building's plaque, listened to a briefing on the building's units and its various modern facilities. The Amir also witnessed an air show for the paratroopers group, the bomb squad, the women's force, cavalry, riot police, special unit of 'Lefdawiya', and Qatar International Search and Rescue Group. The Amir also witnessed a demo showing the readiness of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 security force and visited the shooting-range, the multi-service building, and medical services building.
Following that, His Highness the Amir gave the signal for the start of 'Watan' exercise which is organized with the participation of all military, civil, and organizational authorities along with forces from a number of friendly and fraternal countries. The exercise comes within the framework of preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The Amir was briefed on a part of the joint military exercises between the military, security, and organizational authorities. His Highness the Amir was also briefed on the security procedures during the tournament and the cooperation mechanism between all the participating authorities to guarantee the highest levels of security and organizational success during the hosting of the tournament.
His Highness the Amir watched a presentation of the major scenarios that will be dealt with during the exercise. His Highness was also briefed on the preparations that precede the field exercise and the role of authorities concerned as they carry their tasks during the hosting of global sports events.
His Highness the Amir was accompanied by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani, HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior and Commander of the Lekhwiya Force Major General Abdul Aziz bin Faisal al-Thani, a number of Ministry of Interior and Lekhwiya Force senior officials, heads of delegations and participating authorities, and security leaders and senior officials.
