Russia receives green light to pay for oil shipment

(MENAFN) Brussels got the approval to an official bank to make direct payments for oil shipment to Europe through Ukraine, in line with Russian pipeline crude transport firm Transneft.

“The regulator in Brussels, after the situation with the failure to pass payments, informed our bank, through which we make mandatory transportation payments, that they give us permission to make all payments until the end of the year,” Transneft spokesman and high-level consultant Igor Demin informed Prime news agency on Tuesday.

During this month, Ukraine’s UkrTransNafta halted the shipment of Russian oil to Europe thru the Druzhba pipeline as a result of Russia’s incapability to pay transit fees due to restrictions.

Transneft added that it gave it a shot to pay on July 22, but after six days, the funds were repaid to the firm’s account, since the European correspondent bank rejected to start the operation, referring to bans.
