World is on the verge of nuclear disaster

(MENAFN) According to Vassily Nebenzia, Russia's ambassador to the UN, Kiev's "reckless" actions are bringing a catastrophic nuclear event closer to the world.

Since Russian forces have been in charge of the Zaporozhye power plant in southern Ukraine since February, Kiev's forces have repeatedly shelled the facility.

“We have repeatedly warned our Western colleagues that, should they fail to talk sense into the Kiev regime, it would take the most heinous and reckless steps, which would have consequences far beyond Ukraine,” Nebenzia cautioned at a meeting focused on the matter.

He stated, "That is exactly what is happening," and added that Kiev's Western "sponsors" would be held accountable for any potential nuclear disaster.

Nebenzia cautioned that if the Ukrainian forces keep attacking the power plant, a catastrophe could occur "at any moment." The Russian ambassador to the UN claims that a disaster at the largest power plant in Europe, Zaporozhye, could result in radioactive contamination of large areas of land, affecting at least eight regions of Ukraine, including Kiev, major cities like Kharkov or Odessa, and some of the Russian and Belarusian territories that border Ukraine. He warned that Moldova, Romania, and Bulgaria, as well as the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics, are likely to suffer as well.
