German striker Werner makes his comeback to RB Leipzig


(MENAFN) RB Leipzig confirmed on Tuesday that German striker Timo Werner had made his come back to the Bundesliga team from English club Chelsea on a four-year deal.

Werner stated after the announcement ceremony that "I’m very happy to be able to play for RB Leipzig again. I had a great time here between 2016 and 2020, when we performed brilliantly as newcomers in the league."

"We want to achieve a lot and of course, I want to become the first Leipzig player to reach the 100-goal mark," he also expressed.

He contributed with Chelsea to achieve the 2020-21 UEFA Champions League title as well as the 2021-22 Super Cup title.

Werner, who is going to hold the No. 11 jersey, played games for RB Leipzig between 2016 and 2020 he got 95 goals under his name in 159 games, making him the Leipzig football club's record goal scorer.

The German who is 26 years old scored 24 goals in 53 games for the German national team as well.
