Israeli Warplanes Pound Gaza Strip, Casualties Reported


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) GAZA, Aug 5 (KUNA) -- Spokesman of the Palestinian health authorities in Gaza Strip said Friday at least four Palestinian people, including a 5-year-old girl, were killed and 15 others injured in the latest wave of Israeli air attacks on the besieged enclave.
The airstrikes targeted Palestine Tower in downtown Gaza city and other sites belonging to Islamic Jihad movement, Ashraf Al-Qodwah told the local Al-Aqsa radio station.
According to Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA), Tayseer Jabari, a senior Islamic Jihad commander in Gaza, was killed in the attacks.
Earlier today, Israeli military spokesperson said the Air Force launched the Breaking Dawn operation against Gaza Strip and asked the residents of nearby Israeli towns to stay at home, as a precaution against potential retaliatory missile strikes.
The death toll from the Israeli airstrikes is expected to rise further as the warplanes continue hovering intensively at low altitudes and pounding several sites. (end)
