TUNIS: The Tunisian authorities announced the control of 90 percent of the fires that broke out on Tuesday in the mountain of Bourj Al-Sidriya and the mountain of Boukornine located in the state of Ben Arous in the north of the country.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Tunisian Defense Ministry said that Tunisian helicopters will carry out flights to extinguish the remaining fires at the top of the Burj Al-Sidriya Mountain, which is still burning, and that combing operations are continuing to avoid the re-outbreak of the fire at other points.

The ministry explained that an investigation would be conducted into the causes of the fire outbreak, determining whether they are natural or criminal.

A huge fire broke out Tuesday at the mountainside of the Bourj Al-Sidriya mountain and was moved by winds and forest trees to Jebel Boukernine in the Tunisian state of Ben Arous.
