Qatar Airways Increases Number Of Flights Between Doha, Melbourne Starting Oct. 1

Doha: Qatar Airways announced its flights between Doha and Melbourne will increase from one to two flights per day starting Oct. 1, 2022, with the support of the Victoria State Government.

The announcement explained that Qatar Airways has concluded a strategic agreement with the Victoria Government to increase the number of flights to Melbourne and strengthen the trade and tourism sectors.

HE Group Chief Executive of Qatar Airways Akbar Al Baker said that Melbourne is the original destination of Qatar Airways in Australia, adding that he looks forward to welcoming more passengers on flights to and from Melbourne to many destinations. Enhancing flights to Melbourne before the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will provide an opportunity for football fans from Australia to attend their favorite teams' matches on the field.

HE Australian Minister of Industry Support and Recovery Ben Carroll said that supporting international airlines helps their economy, so they will continue to work closely with leading airlines such as Qatar Airways to launch and promote more destinations and flights to Melbourne, which will contribute to boosting local jobs in the country.

CEO of Melbourne International Airport Lorie Argus said that there is a great demand for international travel outside Melbourne, and these additional flights come at the perfect time, especially with the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, adding that they are pleased that Qatar Airways is increasing the number of flights to Melbourne.

Qatar Airways' additional schedule to Melbourne includes the possibility of continuing flights to Canberra, where flights between Doha and Canberra will officially resume with one flight per day, starting Oct. 1, and Qatar Airways, for this recent strengthening of its network of destinations, will operate up to 40 flights per week to Australia.

With the resumption of these new flights, Qatar Airways will operate flights to six destinations in Australia, including Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth and Sydney, which will increase the number of Qatar Airways' gates in Australia, which was only 5 destinations before the pandemic, after adding Brisbane in early 2020 during the pandemic.
