FAA sends USD1B to airports for terminals, upgrades

(MENAFN) The Biden government is sending almost USD1 billion to 85 airports to expand and upgrade terminals and other facilities, using money approved in 2021’s huge infrastructure bill.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg claimed the projects will help achieve upcoming calls for travel and make flying safer and easier.

“I don’t think anybody could look at airports across America today and say that the existing system and existing levels of funding have been adequate,” Buttigieg updated journalists.

The grants stated Thursday are the first payment of USD5 billion for airport projects that were comprised in an infrastructure bill that Congress confirmed and Leader Joe Biden inked last November.
