Mary Mara died at 61 after drowning in New York River


(MENAFN) Mary Mara, a renowned actress who starred on TV programs such as "Law & Order," "NYPD Blue," and "Ray Donovan," died over the weekend after drowning in the St. Lawrence River.

She was 61.

At 8 a.m. Sunday, troopers responded to a probable drowning report. According to a New York State Police report acquired by The Post, they discovered her dead after they arrived on the scene at Cape Vincent.

Mara was swimming in the water while visiting her sister, according to authorities. According to TMZ, she hopped in to workout.

According to state police, her corpse showed no evidence of foul play and was sent to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

“Mary was one of the finest actresses I ever met,” her manager, Craig Dorfman, stated in a released statement. “I still remember seeing her onstage in 1992 in ‘Mad Forest’ off-Broadway. She was electric, funny and a true individual. Everyone loved her. She will be missed.”
