2Nd Waste Management Conference And Exhibition To Begin On June 13

Doha: To enhance efforts for sustainability, the Ministry of Municipality has announced to organise 2nd Waste Management Conference & Exhibition–Doha 2022, on June 13 and 14 at Sheraton Doha Hotel.

To be held under the patronage of Minister of Municipality H E Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, the conference will provided a platform to attract governmental, semi-governmental, private sector and local factories to communicate and exchange ideas and knowledge about waste management, treatment and recycling.

The announcement was made in a press conference at the headquarters of the Ministry of Municipality, yesterday.

Addressing the press conference, Director of Waste Recycling and Treatment Department at the Ministry of Municipality, Eng Hamad Jassim Al Bahr, said that the conference comes in implementation of the sustainable strategic plan of the Ministry, following Qatar National Vision 2030, and in support of the Zero Waste campaign launched by the Ministry in February of this year and will continue for a whole year under the slogan (Less Waste for A Beautiful City).

“Through this conference, the Ministry of Municipality aspires to develop the waste management system, raise awareness, highlight the latest methods in waste management, produce energy, fertilizer and recyclable materials, support the idea of community participation to preserve the environment, and encourage investment in this domain,” said Al Bahr.

He said that the conference will host many government institutions, private sector, international and regional bodies to get acquainted with the latest technology in the field of waste management, treatment and disposal.

Eng Hamad Jassim Al Bahr said:“A number of workshops, seminars and lectures will be organized in which a group of local, regional and international experts and specialists in the waste management and recycling sector will participate. They will share their experiences through their local and international companies in this field.”

An associated exhibition will also be organised in which many governmental and semi-governmental departments and institutions in the field of waste management, as well as local, regional and international companies and factories specialised in this field, will participate.

Over two days, the event will bring together a group of local, regional and international experts and speakers to discuss the circular economy, in addition to various presentations and panel discussions, during which they will discuss Qatar strategy for waste management, laws in waste management and recycling.

Director of Radiation and Chemical Protection Department at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Abdul Rahman Yousef Al Abdul Jabbar also attended the press conference.
