Awqaf provides new support for QSRN

Doha: Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs represented by General Department of Endowments has announced new support for Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs (QSRN), within the framework of the continued cooperation between the two parties in serving those with disabilities. 

Director of General Department of Endowments Dr. sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani said that the support provided by the ministry to the association comes as a continuation of the fruitful cooperation between the two sides, which resulted in benefiting 55 persons with disabilities last year, by purchasing medical and compensatory devices for them. The Minister extended his thanks to QSRN for its distinct part in achieving conditions, pointing out the historical role of the endowment, especially the Waqf Bank for Healthcare, in developing societies and providing creativity opportunities for all groups, including those with disabilities. 

Member of the Board of Directors QSRN, Taleb Afifa ,expressed his appreciation for the endowment support, which will benefit many persons with disabilities this year, adding that the relation between Awqaf and concerned bodies with those with disabilities, including QSRN, have always been solid and well-established, as these relations were reflected on many projects, programs and various means of assistance that were directed to the beneficiaries. 

Established on the historical role of health endowments in the Islamic history, the Waqf Bank for Healthcare is one of the most important specialised banks at the local level. This bank plays an important role in providing care for low-income patients, providing them with appropriate health services, cooperating with the competent authorities to create joint health programs, conducting educational training courses in the health field, and employing various media to spread health culture among members of society.
