KABUL: The Ministry of Education (MoE) stressed that male teachers and students refrain from using ties.

The ministry in a statement also called for observation of Hijab by female teachers.

However, an official at the MoE was quoted by the media saying that the order was just at the level of instruction and not compulsory.

“The statement which was issued by the Kabul department of education regarding the Hijab and usage of ties, it was just aimed as instruction,” said Ihsanullah Khitab, head of the Kabul department of education.

The ministry also denied the reports over changes in curriculum for schools but said there may be possible changes next year.

“As it is a normal routine in the world also, there may be changes in the curriculum for the next year,” said Aziz Ahmad Riyan, MoE spokesman.

This comes as the Islamic Emirate has yet to allow girls students in grades 7-12 to attend their school despite passing over 200 days.
