ICMP officials get informed on examination of remains of people who died in first Karabakh war (PHOTO)

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 5. Director General of
the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) Kathryne
Bomberger and ICMP Director of Policy and Cooperation Andreas
Kleiser have visited the Forensic Medical Examination and
Pathological Anatomy Association of Azerbaijan's health Ministry,
the ministry told Trend .
According to the ministry, the association director Adalat
Hasanov informed the guests about the tasks facing the association
employees, in particular, during the forensic medical examination
and identification of the remains of thousands of Azerbaijani
military personnel and civilians who were reported as missing
during the first Karabakh war.
Hasanov said that the acceptance of the remains found in mass
graves in the Azerbaijani territories liberated from Armenian
occupation [in the 2020 second Karabakh war] was organized in the
relevant departments of the association.
At the same time, on the basis of the decisions of the
prosecutor's office, a forensic medical examination of the remains
is being carried out, he noted.
Besides, according to the association's head, by order of the
country's leadership, the workers of the association, together with
law enforcement officers, are exhuming the remains from the graves
of unknown martyrs who died during the first Karabakh war in
various cities and regions of Azerbaijan for conducting a forensic
medical examination.
The director general of the international commission highly
appreciated the work done in the field of forensic medical
examination of the remains of Azerbaijani citizens found in the
liberated territories.
Then the ICMP officials got acquainted with the conditions of
forensic medical examination and storage for the discovered remains
in the relevant departments of the association. Besides, a wide
exchange of views on these topics took place.
