UK urges its people to reconsider trips to Belarus

(MENAFN) On Friday, the United Kingdom encouraged its people to reconsider visiting some of Belarus's major towns.

In a statement made by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office it urged “against all travel to Yelsk, Mazyr, Rechitsa, Luninets, Gomel, Asipovichy, Baranovichi, and Brest.”

Furthermore, it cautioned British people “against all but essential travel to the remainder of Belarus,” all of which was included in a recent amendment to its travel guidance.

The advice stated the following; “Since January 2022, the build-up of Russian forces on Ukraine’s borders, including within Belarus, has increased the threat of military action. In the event of military action taking place, our ability to offer consular assistance will be limited”

The caution was issued as conflicts on the Russia and Ukraine border remain heightened as a result of Russia's military deployment which keeps piling up.
