Qatar - MES holds intra-school online spelling bee contest

Doha: MES Indian School recently conducted an intra-school online spelling bee contest as part of its literary activity. It was a unique and exciting experience as students showcased their spelling of English words. 

The chief guest of the event, Hameeda Kadar, the school Principal, complimented the participants for their high degree of enthusiasm in providing the accurate spelling for the words asked. 

The participants at the finals were chosen after three rounds of prelims. Organisers selected 10 students to compete against each other in the finals of the spelling contest, which had three rounds: visual, option and audio rounds.

The first and the second positions were secured by Qasim (VI) and Rehaan Mohammed (VI), respectively. The final round for the third position ended with three students heading for a tie-breaker - the Rapid-fire round in which all three contestants scored the same points. Reyhan Salim (V), Mohammed Muaaz (VI), Janice (VI) shared the third position. 

The programme was coordinated by Fiona D'Cruz, and Teena Baisel under the guidance of Jas MA, HM Boys' Section, Souda Jaleel, HM Girls' Section, DAS Rex, and Rameesh Fatima, Coordinators, Department of English. 

Students were trained by the teachers of the Department of English, Mary Sini, Neethu P, and Rizwa Fatima. Byju Varghese, Department of English, was the spell master. School officials, teachers, and students attended the event.
