Qatar - Ministry attends FAO preparatory session

The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Food Security Department, is participating in the preparatory meetings for the 37th session of the FAO conference for the Near East and North Africa, which is being held via video conferencing.
The five-day preparatory activities, which started on January 9, is discussing a host of topics, including transforming agricultural and food systems to achieve sustainable development goals in the Near East and North Africa, and reviewing the summary of recommendations of regional bodies.
Rural transformation of youth employment, their income, innovation as an accelerator for transforming agricultural and food systems, and transformation of agricultural and food systems in order to promote healthy diets for all, making trade in the service of food security and nutrition in the Near East and North Africa will be discussed.
In addition 'greening' agriculture, building resilience to ensure food security and nutrition, the multi-year program of work for 2022-2025 of the Near East Regional Conference, and regional actions in the field of water scarcity will also feature in the discussions. Director of the Food Security Department Dr Masoud Jarallah al-Marri (pictured) represented the Ministry of Municipality in the preparatory meetings of senior officials. The 36th session of the FAO Conference for the Near East and North Africa will be held on February 7-8.
