1953 -- A postal office was opened at Ahmadi Port, managed by Kuwait Oil Company.
1960 -- The Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signed a decree on safety precautions from Anthrax.
1964 -- Deputy Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah signed decree establishing the Central Tenders Committee, affiliated with the Cabinet.
1964 -- Deputy Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah signed decree on regulating private sector activities.
1977 -- Theater actor Abdulaziz Al-Masoud passed away.
1982 -- Kuwaiti Cardiac Society was declared.
1984 -- Interior Ministry ordered replacement of the General Department of Immigration, Passports and Residence with two new departments; the Public Department of Immigration Affairs and the Public Department for Nationality and Passports.
1990 -- Jeddah meeting took place between the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah with Iraq's deputy Chairman of the Revolution's Leadership Council Ezzat Ibrahim. The meeting focused on obstacles resulting from Iraq's refusal to discuss Kuwaiti proposals on the border issue. The talks failed.
1995 -- The National Assembly approved a law allowing married, divorced or widowed women the right to retire after 15 years of service, instead of 20 regardless of age.
1998 -- Kuwaiti athlete Fouzi Dahash Al-Shimmari won the bronze medal in the 400-meter race in the world tournament for track and field, held in Nice, France.
2006 -- The Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah signed a decree for the redrawing of constituencies, bringing the number for 25 to 10. Ten candidates are to be elected from each constituency and each eligible citizen can vote for four candidates.
2006 -- The Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah signed a decree amending some articles of the social security law, thereby stopping the deduction of installments from retirees who have completed payment of loans taken against their salaries.
2010 -- Kuwait University opened a USD 1.8 million multi-purpose building at the faculty of education. The building is built on a mass of 3,200 square meters.
2016 -- Kuwait Petrochemicals Industry Company earned the golden award for safety and health and silver award for fleet safety from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents ROSPA. (end) gta
