Malaysia: Inflation increases 1.7 percent


(MENAFN) Official statistics revealed on Friday, April 23, Malaysia's inflation, as measured by consumer price index (CPI), increased 1.7 percent year-on-year last month.

The Department of Statistics Malaysia stated in a report that "This is a positive increase for two consecutive months since February".

The upsurge in the overall index was mostly driven by the index of transport which increased 9.8 percent.

Meanwhile, the index of food and non-alcoholic beverages augmented 1.5 percent; miscellaneous supplies and services increased 1 percent.
