Marios completed his BSc in Biomedical Sciences at Imperial College in London, working with Professor Wendy Barclay on the molecular virology of influenza B viruses. He then obtained a Masters degree in Systems and Synthetic biology, also at Imperial College. Marios subsequently undertook a PhD with Professor Katherine Kedzierska within the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Melbourne, focusing on understanding protective immunity to influenza viruses, especially the understudied but clinically relevant influenza B viruses. Marios was then a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Kedzierska Laboratory Group, working on the pre-clinical development of universal influenza vaccines, immunity to influenza B viruses and immunity in high-risk groups of severe influenza infection, like transplant recipients. He is now an NHMRC Emerging Leader fellow in the Kent Laboratory at the Department of Immunology and Microbiology, University of Melbourne at the Peter Doherty Institute of Infection and Immunity, working on immunity to influenza B viruses and vaccine biology.
