China: Power consumption rises 18.5 pct in February


(MENAFN) Figures from the National Energy Administration (NEA) demonstrated that electricity use in China, a major indicator of economic activity, rose 18.5 percent last month from a year earlier as the nation's economy carried on restoring expansion.

The NEA said that overall power consumption reached 526.4 billion kWh in February.

Specifically, power consumption by the primary and secondary sectors rose 26.4 percent and 22.5 percent annually, respectively, whereas that utilized by the tertiary sector climbed 24.7 percent from a year ago.

Residential power use recorded a 2.1-percent annual rise in the past month.
