Doha: Qatar's designing sector will get boost from Doha Design District as it will give architects and students more exposure and create more awareness said experts during a virtual event held recently.

Msheireb Properties hosted summit to launch the Doha Design District (DDD) a new cultural hub in Msheireb Downtown Doha for local, regional, and international talents to foster collaborations. The summit featured talks from some of the most prominent figures in design from Doha and abroad such as Miami, Milan, and London.

The sessions focused on the importance of design districts and their impact to the cities. Tariq Al Mana, Finance Director of Almana Group said, 'We made a substantial progress that changed the way of thinking about designs among Qatari people. We made big leaps with international companies in Qatar. We thank Msheireb for the Doha Design District because it is a huge success for our country and we have participated in setting up an exhibition for Almana Maples in this district. We will do our best to work towards the achievement of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the success of the Doha Design District.

One of the most important features of similar districts abroad such as Miami and Brera, and London is they bring together young workforce and interior design of fashion and art, he added.

Al Mana Group, founded in 1960, is considered one of the first trading companies in Qatar, including Almana Maples that was established in 1980.

Whitney Robinson, CEO DW NorthStar, a design consulting firm, former Editor of Elle Décor in US, and senior design consultant to Qatar Museums, discussed about the CP Club Townhouses Project in Msheireb Downtown Doha. He said, right now, Doha is experiencing a cultural renaissance.

'We want people to see Doha as design destination that rivals Milan, Paris, Miami, London, Los Angeles and New York.  The CP Club exemplifies this vision which is a new private arts club and co-working space for local and international creatives and leaders of industry to meet and collaborate. It is located in heart of Msheireb Downtown Doha which will be the best design districts that transports your mind, body and soul. The club is designed around a central member's Majlis Club house and a café and 15 unique indoor and outdoor spaces that can be rented by members by day, week and month, he added.

'Each designer spent extensive time in Doha over the last two years absorbing the local culture. The result is timeless spaces truly bridge the local and the global. It is for the first time that this group of designers have all worked alongside one another in one development which makes it truly remarkable experience, Robinson said.
