Panama- Canal budgets $350 million for maintenance

The control of erosion and landslides, maintenance of the riverbed, floating equipment, facilities, electrical system, dams and spillways, locks, water treatment plants, water system and Atlantic bridge, are part of the list of the maintenance program for 2021.

Miguel Lorenzo, vice president of Infrastructure and Engineering at the ACP, said that the Canal has property assets, plants and equipment, the maintenance of which has been key during the more than 100 years of operations.

The ACP budget for fiscal year 2021, which began on October 1 and ends on September 30 of next year, estimates revenues of $3.308.9 billion and contributions to the National Treasury of $1.760.3 billion. For the water system, a part is assigned in the current budget, of the cost of the project that is estimated at $2 billion, budgeted over five years. prioritizes the water system in its investment plan that seeks to guarantee water for human consumption and operations. .
