Somalia: 18 rebellions murdered


(MENAFN) A military official stated on Tuesday, October 20, that no less than 18 al-Shabab extremists were murdered on Monday, October 19, in a security operation by Somali National Army (SNA) on the border of Barire town in the southern area of Lower Shabelle.

Ahmed Hassan Ziyad, leader of SNA's 143rd Unit told reporters that the army carried out an operation in Nun Garay village following intelligence of the militants' attendance in the region.

Ziyad stated "The militants suffered casualties in a stiff confrontation with our forces. We killed 18 of them".

He also said that those murdered in the violent clash comprised Sidow Nurre Abu Muhsin, the militants' operational leader in Lower Shabelle area.
