Kuwait- Turkey: 19 new COVID-19 deaths, 995 infections


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Aug 3 (KUNA) -- At least 19 new patients succumbed to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 995 people tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca on Monday.
This raised the total death toll to 5,747 and the infections to 233,851, Turkey's Anadolu Agency quoted Koca in a press statement as saying.
The number of recoveries rose by 1,003 to 217,497, he added.
Meanwhile, Greece reported two deaths as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, taking the total to 210.
Greece news agency quoted the country's national public health organization as saying that 77 new infections were reported, taking the overall cases to 4,737.
The rise in the infections didn't constitute major pressures on the country's health system, the Greek government spokesman Stelios Petsas said.
Greece has managed to control the infections of tourists through a series of measures at the country's ports, he added. (end)
