On July 18th, the Argentinean government dropped shocking news. Quarantine is not yet over; the cause of the extension is due to the progress they have made once the quarantine was in action.

According to Alberto Fernandez, the Argentine President, "Between July 18 and August 2, we will be trying to return to normal life in this new world, in this world that requires different care, and we will do it gradually."
Fernandez mentioned that because of the quarantine, which took place on March 20th, the numbers of infections caused by the Coronavirus have decreased. "So if necessary, we will go backwards."

The president also mentioned that this version of quarantine is less strict than the one in March. The provincial governments can reopen or shutdown any activity of their choice, starting July 18th.

Fernandez mentioned that "In the meantime, we are going to continue working on strengthening the healthcare system, on scientific research to obtain the critical supplies that we lack, and we are going to be helping everyone, the merchants, the workers, those who are without work, who are our priority,"
